The tenth vintage for a Semillon that pioneered a new wave in Argentine winemaking. Oenologist Roberto de La Mota makes it with grapes from Paraje Altamira, 20% fermented and aged in French casks (300 to 500 liters). A moderately intense yellow, the 2019 Semillon Mendel presents subtle, attractive aromas of honey, hazelnuts and apricot. Full-bodied with energy and flavor, the velvety feel is enhanced by a refined freshness. A wine with which one is quick to make friends.

A viscous texture accents the white cherry, marmalade and green fig flavors. The powerfully spicy finish echoes with sage cream and dried herbal notes. Drink now through 2023. 600 cases made, 600 cases imported.

Stalky, waxy aromas are fairly typical of the grape. A chunky, grabby palate is on the full side, while this tastes of dry melon and stone fruits. A waxy texture and dry, slightly bitter flavors control the finish.
